Let’s start by Shanghai Expo!

China's Pavillion

Hi guys,

Living in Shanghai for more than 2 years, I think it can be good to show some pics of the 2010 World Expo.
I would like to share with you my first impression on this event.

So if you’re coming to Shanghai especially for the Expo, you’re thinking about coming, or you’re pissed because you can’t come, here is what you’re missing and what you aren’t:

1/ Be prepared because it’s crowded as hell. I hope you are patient because to access to the best pavilions you’ll have to wait 3 hours (no kidding).

2/ Starving during your visit?  Well you’ll have to wait too.  Especially during lunch and dinner time, you have long lines and nowhere to sit.  If you take the option of fast food (KFC principally), take away your food and enjoy eating where you’ll hardly find a place to sit.

3/ Let’s not be too negative, as here you’ll be able to taste many different foods because a lot of pavilions have a restaurant section. From a good Belgium waffle to a tasty meal from France, there are plenty of options to select from.

4/ Speaking about food, I felt like everybody was always eating.  You see people everywhere with ice cream, french fries, etc… so if you’re a foodie like me it will be very difficult to not be tempted.

5/ Some of the pavillions are very impressive by their size and their design. I really enjoyed taking pics of the different types of architecture.

6/ Okay so my first point was about the waiting line.  My biggest problem with the expo is you have a waiting time of 3 hours for a visiting time of 15 to 30 min if you really take your time. It is very business oriented.  You can buy a lot of goodies or food but sometimes the show is a big disappointment.

7/ It’s really amazing to see people from all over the world in the same place.  I enjoyed that, especially since you get to learn about the other cultures, which is priceless. To finish on a positive note, I would say, if the world were a little more like the expo, where everybody was craving to know more about each country and everybody was in peace, it would be great.

If you are in Shanghai or you plan to come, I hope you’ll enjoy. If not here are my pics, which you can enjoy too :)
